Interior Wood Care

Caring for wood products

We have a hanging wood-slat pot holder on one wall in our kitchen. It’s really handy because our kitchen is fairly small and we have a lot of kitchen gadgets (many thanks to our Williams Sonoma & Bed Bath and Beyond wedding registries).

Materials:

  • Murphy’s Oil Soap

  • small bucket

  • paint rags (or any other rag you don’t mind getting dirty)

  • rubber gloves (optional)

Directions:

  1. Mix Murphy’s soap with warm water in a cleaning bucket.

  2. Soak & wring out rag

  3. Test on a small, discreet section of your wood to make sure it handles the soap well. Wait 5-10 minutes.

  4. If your wood doesn’t discolor, use the Murphy soap and water mixture all over your wood product. Depending on how dirty your wood product is, I recommended doing a second cleaning.
